Mercator was asked by a UK based importer to handle their import shipping from China<\/a> of a 20\u2019 shipping container of silicone tote bags.  The UK importer purchased the goods on an Ex Works (EXW) term<\/a>, which meant that the UK importer was responsible for arranging the full shipment from door in China to their door in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In conjunction with our partner agent based in Shanghai (thanks to our membership of the freight forwarding network MarcoPoloLine<\/a>), Mercator\u2019s import team arranged for the goods to be picked up from the manufacturer who is based in Shenzhen and for export customs in China to be completed.  Once the goods were at the quay in Shenzhen, the shipping container was booked onto the next vessel for shipping from China to the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are several weekly departures for sea freight from China to the UK to most of the major UK ports.\u00a0 Transit times vary for shipping from China to the UK, depending upon departure port, arrival port, routing, etc.\u00a0 Generally, sea freight from China to the UK is 25-40 days port to port (this does not take into account any exceptional circumstances, such as the Red Sea diversions<\/a>).\u00a0 Once the shipping container arrived in the UK, our import team completed the UK customs clearance<\/a> and arranged the delivery to the customer\u2019s door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
