The consultation period ran from December 2022 to February 2023.\u00a0 A new UK South Korea trade deal would replace the existing deal which currently mirrors the deal the EU signed in 2011.\u00a0 The UK\u2019s continuity free trade agreement was signed in 2020 post-Brexit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>South Korea is the one of the largest economies in the world and is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ons.gov.uk\/economy\/nationalaccounts\/balanceofpayments\/datasets\/uktotaltradeallcountriesseasonallyadjusted\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.ons.gov.uk\/economy\/nationalaccounts\/balanceofpayments\/datasets\/uktotaltradeallcountriesseasonallyadjusted\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UK\u2019s 21<sup>st<\/sup> largest export market<\/a>.
