NOT ONLY one"Blood of my blood, soul of my soul, thine hand is over my heart. When you ache, then shall I ache; when you perish, then I shall perish."
NOT ONLY one of my favourite books of the year but equally one of the best fantasies I have ever read!!!
When we said bring back yearning this is what we meant! The Second Death of Locke was so full of angst, such a warranted sense of desire, found family and a magic system that felt so fresh amongst the current wave of fantasy romance releases. I adored these characters so much and would find myself simultaneously blushing, giggling and yet, trying not to cry in SO many chapters.
I would highly recommend if you love: - a quest - childhood friends to lovers - a lady knight!!!! (I need more of this in my life) - found family - gorgeous writing - the dreamiest medieval fantasy setting

This was AMAZING. Fredrik Backman has such a way with words: description, storytelling, his ability to perfectly examine, pick apart and display characters... that makes me so thankful to be a reader. My Friends is a story of loss, infatuation, friendship, childhood and on moving on. It carries flaws (characters, never in writing), that make you feel as if the characters are standing right in front of you, and my gosh are they real in my brain. The plot, as heartbreaking as it was heartwarming, examines what it means to live on the fringes of society and find the joy in what is left. This book is human at its core.

I'm endlessly astounded by the way Ocean Vuong is able to put the aching, joyousness and mundanity of being human in a way that feels as melancholic and raw as it does beautiful, and this was absolutely no different. The Emperor of Gladness is an astounding story on two people living on the fringes of society (the elderly and the young adult) and how their differences are exactly what make them similar. I'll be thinking about this one forever, please read it...more

This was somehow even BETTER than the Crimson Moth... which is a fantasy book that I already hold in such high regard. I'm often hesitant that sequels won't carry the weight of its first part but oh my The Rebel Witch did it tenfold. If you're ever looking for a witch x witch hunter duology I CANNOT recommend this enough
The tension! the political intrigue! the stakes! the yearning!!!! I'm convinced that nobody does it like Kristen Ciccarelli

Wholeheartedly recommend this if you love: the walking dead (the zombie narrative is to die for), cannibal*sm as a personification for survival, notes on mortality, post-apocalyptic fiction and books that'll make you question EVERYTHING...more
