did not like it

Genocide of the entire white population of the United States.

I finished it because I hoped for redemption, or at least remorse.

This book was filled with hate and contempt, and represents a very dangerous and polarizing way of thinking.

Skip it.

Tom LA Agree.

message 2: by Jay (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jay Amazon All of the white people writing such eloquent, drawn out, opposing reviews to this book. On the contrary, has just voted in a leader whose campaign slogan implies exactly what this book entails, with reversed roles.
“Ain't No Fun When the Rabbit Got the Gun.”

anabandana Don’t feel so good in literature? How do you think it feels in real life.

Tom LA Anabandana, what you mean, exactly?

April This book was not filled with hate and contempt. Did we read the same book.

It was filled with some imaginings on what life could be/would have been for Black people in America if slavery and its deep ripple effects weren’t still being experienced today. Just because it’s uncomfortable for you, doesn’t mean it’s filled with hate. This book decentered whiteness and THAT is likely what felt like hate to you. Most of the prose was about finding power within self. That is only considered taboo or hateful when non-whites have the AUDACITY to love themselves and decenter whiteness.
